Not working

Simply not working...

** WARNING! **

This is a scam to get ur $! Doesnt work! Never worked!

Needs app on computer

Like the other reviewers I thought this app didnt work at all. The description of the app states that a companion app needs to be installed on the mac thats running eyetv. After I realized that and installed the mac app, it works as described. I guess the others werent aware of this. Maybe instructions in the "find computer" screen would help. A button to access the on screen menu (command-esc) would be nice. Other than that it does what its supposed to so I updated my review

Used to be handy. Now doesn’t work.

This used to be a handy way to control EyeTV on my Mac from my phone. Lately it doesn’t work, though. It connects (EyeTV Remote Server says “Remote Connected” in response to launching EyeTV Mote on my iPhone 6S), but buttons no longer do anything. :(

Works great!

The interface is simple but has all of the functionality I need when watching live tv. Would be nice to have a button to access recordings. This app controls channels and volume quickly, and the app quickly reconnects when my iPhone goes to sleep. Well worth the .99!

Great App! But needs a few more things!

This is a great remote for an amazing product eyetv! But I would love to see the remote to have numbers on it for quick channel changing. Would want a guide button too and also a previous channel button and this app would be perfect! very simple too!

Great

Would give 5 stars if more instructions were provided. At first had problems. Only function that works is the on button. Will not turn off or any other controls. Sent email to developer. Quick response. Had to change the settings to Eye TV. Was set to Eye TV lite. Select settings before selecting you computer. It returns to main control screen when selecting the computer and you may not see the settings button at the bottom. "Dear Maik, If the on/off button works, the other functions should work too. Do you have the full "EyeTV" application or "EyeTV Lite"? In EyeTV Mote, use the left-arrow button that is at the top of the remote view to go to the screen where you can select your computer. At the bottom of this screen, there is a "Settings" button with which you can select which one of EveTV or EyeTV Lite application you want to control. The window asking to identify or locate EyeTV comes when the application is not found on your computer (or maybe has another name). In that case, make sure that you have selected the right application in EyeTV Mote Settings. If still asked, select the EyeTV or EyeTV Lite application that you want to control on the computer. Regards, Wilhem Meignan"

you need eyetv server on your computer

you need eyetv server on your computer for it to work, didnt know that at first. I love it now that I fixed and added server!

Doesnt work

Doesnt work at all on my 3GS. Opens, immediately shuts off. No response from email to developer.

FINALLY! - an app to replace your physical remote

Today, Im ecstatic that I stumbled across EyeTV Mote! FINALLY, an app that works and has all of the core functions necessary to replace the physical remote. I was impressed with how rapidly the component EyeTV Remote Server installed on my system with no need to configure anything. Likewise, EyeTV Mote installed in a flash and launches quickly. The large, intuitive buttons are an appropriate approach to human interface design. Kudos! Bravo! And THANK YOU! Ever since purchasing an EyeTV Hybrid in 2007, Ive been baffled as to why Elgato hasnt released a companion iPhone remote app. I tried Poke Eye when that came out but was only able to get it to work briefly and intermittently, and it lacked some essential buttons to fully replace the physical remote. That was a bust. Then, a glimmer of hope came when Elgato released its EyeTV app, but I was soon perplexed that the app was mainly for watching television on an iOS device. Really? I guess theres some demand for that, but for me, I purchased a TV tuner to watch television on a decently-sized screen, not my tiny iPhone screen. This was released almost in spite of there not being an iOS remote. As a crutch, I was using Synergy to mouse over to my television screen to control EyeTV, but after upgrading to Lion, I discovered that its not—and currently still is not—supported. I then turned to ShareMouse, which works very well, but the whole mousing over to the screen is less than desirable comparison to a true remote. I will note a few very minor oddities though with set-up and operation: • When I first pressed play/pause on in EyeTV Mote, a window came up on my system asking me to choose an application. I wasnt sure what to pick given that 2 EyeTV Helper and 1 EyeTV applications were listed. I opted for the EyeTV application. • The buttons still didnt work until I went to the settings in EyeTV Mote and selected EyeTV rather than EyeTV Lite, which had been selected by default. I dont even have EyeTV Lite. If possible, it would be nice if an update to the app automatically picks the most likely app to control by default, if this is detectable. • If you press the up or down arrow, the list of channels comes up, but if you dont want to select one—for instance, if you are watching a pre-recorded show—then you need to press the play/pause button to exit. This isnt intuitive. I discovered by trial and error.

Eyetv Mote

Eyetv Mote cant access recorded tv titles in Eyetv. Has the functionality of a free app, not worth the price.

It Just Works!

Gold metal, but with just a little shine off. Connects wirelessly, but you might need to select eyetv or every lite for it to work. This is a little obscure. Great to sit back and not have to jump up and down to work the eyetv.

Happy to find this

I have an older EyeTV that did not come with a remote so I was very happy to find this app on iTunes for my iPhone. It works great and is mostly intuitive. I would add a way to get to jump to schedule and recordings so you can see whats on TV and what you have available to play. Im a bit surprised the EyeTV dont provide and iphone/ipad app as EyeTV is so Apple centric. But thanks Wilhelm It certainly is worth the price!

What I needed, but want more...

This does what I need for sure! Thanks! However, I would love to have access to other aspects of running EyeTV or features of the playing Mac that are related to running a remote computer connected to a TV. Especially with Mountain Lion being able to stream the UI to an AppleTV! (This is what I do). I suggest you have multpile screens that are 2 figure swipes away. Put the features less used on more remote screens... Some of the features I would like added this way are: Stop Recording Window Size changes Sleep the computer restart the App PIP commands ClosedCaptions commands Program and strem info Swap window focus Schedule manipulation run a terminal command (that can be easily defined in the serverApp preferences. This will also allow me to run AppleScript commands... Thanks Again!

Buy This Remote

If youre just interested in being Ble to control the tuner from your couch vs. actually watching on your iPhone/iPad then this is the best $0.99 you can spend. Does the job perfectly and connects almost instantly. Great app.

What I was looking for

Sure this app could do more. I give it 5 stars because it does everything I need it to do. This app will even start and quit EyeTV, that is really neat! Very nice work! I have used rowmote and others, no offense to them but this was designed with Elegato in mind and Im surprised they didnt make it themselves.

Im missing something

Cant get it to connect, even with server running. Is this app out of date? And I can find no way to communicate with the author. Buyer beware.
